Under the SE1 (South East Central One) postcode, areas included stretch from Bermondsey, London Bridge, Elephant and Castle; all the way East to Vauxhall. It includes the south side of the Thames riverside, an area opposite (juxtaposed) to Westminster, the Houses of Parliament, all the way round to Wapping, past London Bridge. Central London Bridges primarily stretch from the north side of the river to SE1.

SE1 bears the hallmarks of having been at one time, London's and very  possibly England's, primary location for industry; where the city stood as ground zero for the industrial revolution for the British Empire and the rest of the world, manufacturing and bringing in key imports such as food and raw materiels. It is here, in SE1, that infrastructure along the waterways demonstrate a history in stark contrast with the economics of the city now, which has since evolved into becoming the centre of the world's financial network.

Buildings in SE1 provide a major advantage for smaller organisations; buildings and floor plates are smaller, the area is highly diversified with commercial buildings for offices, restaurants, bars and also numerous iconic residential buildings (One Blackfriars, Heron Tower) whilst there are also other key icons such as Tower Bridge and the Tate Modern gallery.

SE1's ambience is still very industrial; old warehouses and factories have been converted into modern offices and residential buildings; demonstrating a unique, differentiated and arguably a less gentrified character in comparison to the north side of the river.

thoroughfare during rush hour. However, with Queen's walk along the river and the nostalgic, Victorian vanity architecture of Hay's Galleria, make this not only commercially significant but aesthetically and culturally too; apt that HMS Belfast is stationed at riverside.
